Oxy-MORON or Hypocrite!

February 11, 2001

OK, I think we don't need the "first 100 days" to figure out that George W. Bush is some sort of Moron. I also think he is a hypocrite(I don't know if that's the right word for him, though). I would like to see his budget plans. I would like to know what he is thinking. All this talk of tax cuts, tax refunds, spending on this and that, has gotten my panties in a bunch! Of course I am no political scientist, nor do I really care about politics, but how can what I have seen on the news makes any sense? Could it be the news media itself? I hear some good things come out of the someones' mouth, but when the details are exposed either something is hypocritical or an oxymoron, or both! (I guess you can say both are the same. ;-) ) FYI, I did not vote for GWB.

Tax cut. Hypocrite. All I hear in the news is how GW wants to cut taxes. OK, big man with the 10 gallon hat, how do you intend to pay for your so-called education reform and "vouchers"? Better yet, where will the funding come for these religious organizations to which you plan to give money. (Redundant, ain't it?) Are we through? NOT! How about this increase in military spending? Where is that money going to come from? If people believe you are going to cut taxes and you do, you are just going to make the national debt even larger than it is. Hmmm? National debt. I think we will come back to that.

The Surplus: Extra money in the government coffers? Now that is a first. Clinton didn't use all of it on whores or haircuts? Unbelievable. GW wants to cut taxes, but fund a bunch of programs. Hey, GW, wake up and drink something other than beer! Take this money and use it wisely! Oh, that has got to hurt; the government using money wisely. Ouch. Here is a chance to do the right thing and all he wants to do is give it back to the people. I know the people would like to get something back. I would love to get money back from the government. I would rather see a status quo on taxes, no raises, not cuts. Use the money for something that is good for this country. How about education! Use it for education, but you better rethink your voucher scheme. That program is stupid. Let's educate, not punish. Let's leave that for another column. Use the surplus (which I really doubt exists anyway) to lower the national debt. Fund special programs that help the people. Here's one, DO NOT use it for pay raises in congress. Give it to the people who deserve it like congressional secretaries, oh, I mean, assistants, or other government employees who could use the money. If you do give it back to the people, give it to the people who need it most like the low and middle class. The upper class runs this country anyway, so make them pay. Only the rich funded your campaign, didn't they?

Back to this National Debt. We seem to be running at a deficit every year. No one can balance a budget. Major corporations can't balance a budget, so why would the federal government be any different. There is no concrete accounting in the government. The government does not even know where most of the money goes! I would like to see Price-Waterhouse do an audit of the federal government and really see what the accounting departments really do. Unfortunately that would take about 100 years to complete. Why not pay off the National Debt? Most financial advisors recommend that people pay down their debts. Why not the government? No, GWB has to promise tax rebates and more spending in the same breath. Spending on schools. Spending on religious organizations. Spending on the military. Spending on.... Hello?!

President Bush, think about the people and what is good for them. Spending on those things that are good for the country (education, and even some military) is a wise move. Giving money back to the rich is a poor move. Cutting taxes sounds like a good move, but think about what you are doing. You are cutting funds for the very programs you wish to back. Look at what we are spending money on already and find out which special interests have conned you and past presidents. Change your moronic ways now before you run this country into the ground. Let's make America a better place to live and not the hell hole you seem so bend on producing.
